Johann Jacob Bach [23] (Musician)

Born: baptized February 11, 1682 - Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany
Died: April 16, 1722 - Stockholm, Sweden

Johann Jacob Bach [23] was son of Johann Ambrosius Bach [11]. He received instruction as a Stadtpfeifer in Eisenach with Johann Heinrich Halle, his father's successor, and in 1704 became an oboist with the Swedish guard. He went with the Swedish army under Charles XII to Turkey and took flute lessons in Constantinople with P.G. Buffardin. From 1713 he was a chamber musician at the Stockholm court. About 1704 J.S. Bach [24] wrote a Capriccio (BWV 992) on Johann Jacob's departure from his home country.
